Lead Septic Installer at Rock Solid Septic ~ Excavation | South Carolina Tier 3 Licensed Installer

Alex Rusev is the Lead Installer at Rock Solid Septic ~ Excavation and oversees septic system installations, repairs, drain field layouts, and excavation projects across Upstate South Carolina. He has worked alongside his brother John since the company’s earliest days and has been involved with Rock Solid from the beginning of its growth into a multi-county septic contractor serving homeowners throughout the region.

Alex holds a South Carolina Tier 3 Installer License (OSWWI0667), the highest septic installer license level available in the state. This certification authorizes him to perform everything from conventional septic installations and repairs to engineered and commercial septic systems throughout South Carolina.
Licensed Septic Installation & Excavation Expertise Across South Carolina
As Lead Installer, Alex is responsible not only for overseeing installations, but also for solving complex field challenges that arise during excavation and septic work. His expertise includes:

  • Soil evaluation and drain field placement
  • Septic system redesigns when site conditions change
  • High water table troubleshooting
  • Engineered septic layouts
  • Excavation planning around homes, wells, ponds, and traffic areas
  • Long-term system protection and property preservation

Alex is especially known for his practical, field-based understanding of South Carolina soil conditions. According to him, two neighboring properties can perform completely differently underground, even when they look identical from the surface.

“You can’t tell just by looking at a yard. Your neighbor’s soil could be really good and then your soil could be horrible.”

That hands-on approach shapes the way he manages every installation. Rather than forcing a system into a layout that may fail later, Alex focuses on adapting the design to real site conditions while keeping the homeowner informed throughout the process.
Focused on Long-Term Septic System Performance, Not Just Passing Inspection
Alex places strong emphasis on protecting customer property during excavation work. When planning septic layouts, he carefully considers:

  • Future traffic patterns
  • Vehicle access
  • Drainage behavior
  • Long-term property use
  • Septic accessibility for future maintenance

“If there’s a spot I can move the drain field to help the customer out, I’ll definitely try to do that.”

Known for his attention to detail and high installation standards, Alex believes quality septic work comes down to doing the job correctly the first time, even if that means redesigning part of the project during installation.

“When I see the dirt is bad, I’m not just going to finish it and leave. I’ll redesign the system. I’ll do everything I can so I’m confident it meets mine and our company standards.”

Today, Alex continues overseeing septic installations and repairs throughout Spartanburg County, Greenville County, Cherokee County, Pickens County, and Anderson County, helping homeowners navigate the unique soil, drainage, and excavation challenges common throughout Upstate South Carolina.
Focused on Doing the Job Right the First Time
One of John’s core philosophies is simple:

Do the job correctly the first time.

He believes poor workmanship doesn’t just affect one customer. It affects the company’s long-term reputation throughout the community.
“Doing the job right the first time means a whole lot after experience of doing it wrong the first time,” John says. “When you do it right, customers recommend you to everybody.”

That philosophy shapes the way Rock Solid approaches:

  • Septic pumping
  • Repairs
  • Installations
  • Excavation work
  • Emergency service calls
  • Customer communication
  • Property cleanup and professionalism

John also places strong emphasis on presentation and professionalism in the field, including maintaining clean equipment, organized jobsites, and respectful customer interactions.
